CAMPUS NEWS ABBEY VICTORIOUS IN BLOOD DRIVE CHALLENGE
From STAFF REPORTS
A few months ago Belmont Abbey College was challenged by Queens University to a blood drive supporting the Community Blood Bank of the Carolina’s. The Community Blood Bank is a consortium of hospitals in the surrounding counties to provide the gift of life to local citizens. BAC Health Services, along with Alpha Sigma Pi and Delta Tau Delta, accepted that challenge.
The students knew they had their work cut out for them. Queens University is larger in population than the Abbey, Also, Queens held their blood drive during their homecoming, further increasing their number of potential donors.
The BAC Blood Drive and Health Fair was held on Wednesday, March 29, 2006. The turnout was so good that potential donors had to be turned away. The Belmont Abbey Community proudly donated 42 pints of blood, beating Queens not only in percentages but in total number of pints obtained.
Student Health Services wants to thank all of the donors and our excellent student groups who made this victorypossible. All of the blood donated that day will be of great benefit to those in need.
Additionally, Student Health Services wants those who won door prizes to be sure to pick up their prizes. If you were a winner and haven’t yet picked up your prize, go to Student Health Services (O’Connell Hall, Suite 105) during operating hours.
