CAMPUS NEWS MCLEOD NAMED ADRIAN AWARD WINNER
From STAFF REPORTS
Dr. Mike McLeod, Professor of Biology, has been named this year’s recipient of the Adrian Award for Excellence in Teaching.
“I’m really surprised,” said Dr. McLeod, who began teaching at the Abbey in 1977. “So many of my colleagues are more deserving.”
According to Dr. Nathalie Coté, chair of the Faculty Development Committee that oversees the award, “The students who nominated [Dr. McLeod] mentioned his enthusiasm for his subject, his dedication, his ability to stay up-to-date and to bring current and professionally-relevant materials into the classroom, his high standards, his willingness to help students meet those standards, and his ability to clearly explain complex concepts. He goes beyond bringing biology to the students -- he makes the students feel like members of the professional community of biology.”
Dr. McLeod will be recognized at the annual Academic Awards Dinner, to be held this year on Wednesday, April 19.
