SGA IS ON THE MOVE

By LISA BROWN
November 29, 2006

The Student Government has been extremely active this semester. Although we have changed our meetings to bi-weekly, we have been more involved with our college community than in past years. Please note that all of our meetings are open to the students. We want to hear your concerns!

Some of you may have received the Student Government survey. This information has been very useful to our organization. Not only have we found different methods of communicating with the students, but we also have acknowledged what changes need to be made on campus. SGA has additionally created a Facebook group via which we hope to assist with communication issues on campus. A link to the SGA email address has been added to this group. We thank you for sharing your thoughts on the issues presented.

We also would like to recognize our newest member in our organization. Joseph Maimone now serves as a representative to the sophomore class. Congratulations, Joseph! This year we have put an emphasis on having the students speak their minds. We have hosted forums that have discussed the propsed plus/minus system, food services, and maintenance. We feel that these forums were a success! Students shared their thoughts and suggestions that will create a change on our campus.

Our thoughts concerning the plus/minus system were expressed to Dr. Natalie Coté as she presented them to the Academic Advisory Committee. Our thoughts were subsequently shared with the Faculty Assembly in their meeting about the proposed change.

SGA has been working very hard this semester to listen to what you, the students, have to say. Look for more changes coming in the spring semester!
