CAMPUS NEWS SPRINGING FORWARD WITH THE SGA
By STEFANIE WHARTON
I am sure that each of you has realized how fast this semester is going by. This is a very busy time of the year for you. Your Student Government Association has been very busy, too, and expects to continue to have an eventful rest of the semester.
We would like to start off by thanking those who completed a survey! Your input will be very helpful. With your feedback we have been working hard to improve the school for the students.
We are currently meeting with the food service providers to continue improving our food.
We also have a new freshman senator, Mark Blair. Congratulations, Mark!
We have organized a St. Patrick’s Day parade for Friday, March 17th at 4:30 p.m. Club presidents will be getting a letter shortly to sign their club up for a float. There will be cash prizes, so if you have any questions please contact me.
After spring break, SGA is going to have petitions available for any qualified student wishing to run for an executive position. Positions for President, Vice President, Secretary, and Public Relations are available. You can pick up petitions in the Student Life Office starting March 20th. Elections will be held on Thursday, March 30th.
Also, on March 30th each of you is going to be able to have the unique opportunity to take part in an SGA constitution revisions referendum. SGA is currently reviewing our constitution and reformatting parts of it to better serve and represent the student body. I encourage you all to take these changes seriously and take part in the vote.
Dr. Theirfelder has been working with SGA to help answer some questions about the strategic plan on campus. On Wednesday, March 29th he is holding a student forum at 12:30 p.m. in Holy Grounds to answer all of the students’ questions. This is a wonderful opportunity to sort out the rumors from the facts. Dr. Theirfelder also wants to hear your opinion. After all this is YOUR school.
Class office positions are going to be filled in April, so if you are interested in representing your class on SGA should plan to run. More information will be made available as the time gets closer.
SGA is an amazing organization and would like to encourage EVERY student who is interested to consider seek an office. If you want to make a difference, voice your opinion, or just be involved on campus, SGA would love to have you run for a position.
If you want to find out more about SGA or are considering the possibility of running for a position next year, then please come to one of our meetings on Wednesdays at 5:15 p.m. in the Mezzanine.
Please also feel free to contact me at stefaniecwharton@bac.edu if you have any questions or concerns to share. Be certain as well to keep an eye out for flyers announcing SGA’s many upcoming events!
