The medieval English historian's greatest work, Historica Ecclesiastica Gentis Anglorum, was one of the first historical books to be printed, appearing in 1478. This twelve volume edition of his complete works, with original Latin texts and translations by Giles, was published by Whittaker & Co. of London, one of the noble achievements of nineteenth century British scholarship.
