Erasmus. Paraphrasis. Gryphium Press, pr. 1544.

This is the oldest of several Belmont Abbey books to carry the impressive colophon of the printer-scholar Sebastien Gryph (or Gryphius), who began in 1528 to produce small-format books, mostly in Latin, using Roman and Italic types which, along with border and initial material, he imported from Basel. [AHB] Gryph worked in the commercial city of Lyons, and his editions of ancient authors are considered to be on a par with those of Aldus. He was sufficiently well-regarded that Francois Rabelais collaborated as editor for his critical editions of Hippocrates and Galen.[APB]
