Pliny. Novocomensis Epistolarum. 1625.

Imitation has been called the sincerest form of flattery, and various imitations of Aldus' anchor & dolphin device repeatedly surfaced during and after the great printer's life, beginning with a series of plagiarized octavo editions in sixteenth century Lyons. This 1625 edition of Pliny by Peter and Jacob Chouet of Geneva surrounds the old Aldine anchor with seventeenth century French ornamental scrollwork.
